Thinking of making any home improvements this spring to your kitchen or bathroom? If so, it would be worthwhile to look at some data before doing so.
According to the Remodeling 2015 Cost vs. Value Report, a homeowner can expect to recoup about 70% of the cost upon resale for a new bathroom renovation. Similar to a bathroom renovation, 67.8% of the cost upon resale can be expected for a major kitchen renovation. With this being said, should you remodel at all?
Housing markets vary everywhere you go. However, unless you are seeking a “fixer-upper” house considering renovations before selling would be beneficial.
Below are some popular trends for kitchens and bathrooms this spring season: (See Below)
Kitchens: Homebuyers today are seeking an open kitchen-family room. This means that the large kitchen opens up to a family room with no separating walls. Wine refrigerators, more useable counter space, technology outlets, technology refrigerators, etc. are more examples of what buyers are seeking in today’s homes.
Bathrooms: Homebuyers today are seeking large open bathrooms with a large shower space, and possibly even a steam-shower with aromatherapy if possible. Glass tiles, multi-spray heads, built-in shampoo and conditioner containers, etc. are more examples of what buyers are seeking in today’s homes.
