Contrary to popular belief, it has been said that the best time to buy a home is in the spring and to sell in the fall season. Although there is argument to any belief, there are many factors to consider prior to jumping into the real estate ring.
- Spring is the best time to sell: Spring is most commonly believed to be the best season to sell your home. Many people want to get settled into a new home before the summer months to avoid the hassle. The spring also provides the best weather for showing a home. Who wants to show a house in the snow? Not to mention, the longer days to assist when moving.
- The worst time to sell: Mid December to mid January is highly considered the worst time to sell your home. Putting your home on the market in the middle of a holiday season often causes many scheduling problems due to everybody’s busy schedule. Potential buyers are often too stressed out during those months to even consider your home.
- Show off your home’s best assets: Sell when the features of your home have the most impact. If you have a pool with beautiful stonework or tiling, be sure to sell your home in appropriate weather. Buyers will love your pool when they are viewing on a hot day or be dazzled by pool lights at night versus a pool cover with piles of leaves or melted snow in the winter. If you have a lot of windows or skylights in your home, be sure to show them off when the sun if shining. No central air? Schedule a showing of your home during the cooler months of the year when the heat is more adequate.
