The town of Black Mountain, North Carolina is named for an old train stop and was first incorporated in 1893. Black Mountain College was located here and produced many famous scholars and thinkers. Buckminster Fuller was a teacher and resident and Albert Einstein was a frequent visitor. The town still has an artistic vibe and is home to the popular Leaf Festival. Downtown shops include Dobra Tea and Mountain Dulcimer, where they hand make beautiful musical instruments. The Black Mountain Museum gives an interesting perspective on the area.
